WITHOUT mincing words, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is currently in a happy mood and this is visible. The people’s governor can now sleep with his two eyes closed as the number one citizen of the state, given the winning streak he demonstrated at the Supreme Court penultimate Monday.

•Governor Obaseki at a thanksgiving service

In celebration of his victory, the governor went to the church last Sunday for a special thanksgiving service at New Covenant Gospel Church, Benin, the Edo State Capital, where he appreciated God for his victory. He noted that he was the unlikely governorship candidate for the Edo State government house, but was favoured by God to be chosen among competent contestants and to win the election.

However, the king-size governor said he is ready to work for the state and eschew the distractions of politics. He said for the next three years, he will dedicate himself to working for Edo State inhabitants. He also admonished his people to pray to God that what his administration has achieved in the last eight months will be a tip of the iceberg compared to what God will use him and his cabinet to accomplish in the state.

The governor whom many described as man of the people giving to his large heart further expressed hope that his administration would make Edo people smile again, instead of regretting their decision to give him a chance to govern the state.
