Jos—Plateau State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Sam Galadima, is dead, he was aged, 64.
Galadima was said to have slumped in early morning yesterday during the monthly physical exercise for Government officials at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, Jos.
He was said to have been rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital where he died.
An eye witness who spoke on condition of anonymity told Vanguard that “we were there for the exercise early this morning (yesterday) and he did not run much. Shortly before the Governor came in, he slumped, the next thing we heard is that he had given up.”
Monthly physical exercise
Governor Simon Lalong had introduced the monthly physical exercise for members of the State Executive Council and other Government appointees to make them keep fit to carry out their responsibilities and the late Commissioner was there to observe the exercise with his colleagues.
Meanwhile, in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Rufus Bature, Governor Simon Lalong, has declared three days of mourning beginning from yesterday to Friday.
The statement reads, “The late Hon. Arc Samuel Galadima was part of the State Executive Council members participating in the regular forth-nightly Physical Exercise at the Jos Township Stadium, when he slumped and was rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital where he was confirmed dead. The Executive Governor has as a result of this tragic loss, declared three (3) days of mourning beginning from today Wednesday, the 22nd to Friday the 24th of March, 2017. The Executive Governor has also suspended all his public functions in keeping with the mourning mood of the State.“
