The management of Heritage Bank has faulted a report in an online medium, which insinuated that one of its executive directors, Mrs. Mary Akpobome, has been asked to exit the bank over unautho-rised transactions.
In a statement yester-day, the bank said Mrs. Akpobome remains an ED in the organisation and has not been found wanting in the discharge of her duties.
It said: “The manage-ment of Heritage Bank categorically refutes these claims and hereby states clearly that Mrs. Mary Akpobome remains a valued Executive Director of the bank.
“We strongly disclaim all allegations made in the very malicious report that Mrs Akpobome or any other member of our board and management have in any way engaged in any fraud whatsoever.”
It said the online platform had made the de-marketing of Heritage Bank its major occupation, but betrayed ignorance of banking rules in the latest attempt.
It said: “Financial institutions have credit policies governing its processes and manage-ment. These policies are designed and enforced by regulatory agencies to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
“Heritage Bank, like other banks, are under the strict supervision of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.”
