PORT HARCOURT— THE National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has said it will not allow corps members to participate in the supplementary election slated for February 25, in Etche Local Government Area of the Rivers State.

The Rivers State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Omotayo Adewoye, revealed this yesterday, in Port Harcourt during a meeting organised by the state Police Command for stakeholders in view of the rerun election in Etche.

Adewoye noted that the NYSC has instructed him not allow corps members to participate in the election due to the violence against corps members in previous elections.

He said: “We have had cause to pay the supreme price. We have lost several of our people in the elections. NYSC will not take part in the election because of the violence that happened in previous elections in the state.”
