Yenagoa— Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Tuesday, promised to lift the embargo on employment in the state public service as residents of the state came out in their thousands to celebrate the first year of his second term in office with fanfare.
Security was heightened in Yenagoa, the state capital, ostensibly due to the planned protest by some Ijaw against the government’s decision to turn the state-owned Bayelsa Palm as grazing land to herdsmen.
The iconic Peace Park venue of the rally for the event was turned into a huge carnival as the various support groups tried to outdo each other with their deft dance steps.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Dickson, assured the people of better days ahead promising that his administration will soon lift the embargo on employment into the state public service.
