CHRISTOPHER University has hosted the maiden edition of The Platform Nigeria’s Young Professionals Boot Camp, an initiative of the Covenant Christian Centre aimed at exposing young and talented professionals to the skills and training needed to succeed in the business world.

The recently held in-residence five-day boot camp at the varsity’s amphitheatre had about 300 participants aged between 20 and 25 years old in attendance.

Giving reasons on why the varsity decided to host the boot camp, a principal officer of the varsity, Mr. Francis Ezeh, said it tallies with the varsity’s mission of creating a specialized institution committed to the pursuit of academic innovation, skill-based training and a tradition of excellence in teaching and research with private sector participation.

He said “The management of the institution places high premium on leadership and entrepreneurial training. We believe that freedom, responsibility, strong will and determination are germane to leadership and entrepreneurial spirit, and these requires holistic education for the holistic training of students.

“This is why the inculcation of leadership and entrepreneurship skills will be done in collaboration with the private and public sectors.”

The participants were put through various aspects of international business best practices such as ethics, ideas generation, tools and techniques for evaluating new ideas (such as SWOT analysis), evidence modelling, marketing mix, know your customer, intellectual property laws, negotiation skills, copyrights and agreements, plagiarism, amongst others.
