Lagos—Police has charged eight elderly men, who allegedly stole the documents of a landed property valued at N400 million, property of one Mr Owoseni Agbayelo, before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The defendants are Amisu Alao, 74; Afolabi Dosunmu, 65; Adams Adebayo, 50; Saliu Shanu, 52; Oseni Olukola, 49; Agbaiaka Samusideen, 58; Akintunde Rasaq, 58, and Segun Egbayelo, 70.
They are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, threat to life and breach of peace preferred against them by the police.
The prosecutor, Corporal Friday Mameh, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in 2013, at 3 Expressway Sand Depot on Tin Can Island Port Authority, Apapa, Lagos.
Mameh said the defendants threatened to kill the complainant by sending written threatening messages to him.
According to him, the defendants acted in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by using the stolen documents to make false representation against the complainant, saying the false representation by the defendants was predicated on tarnishing the reputation of the complainant.
