… as 400 get free eye glasses

Over 50 cataract patients in Abuja metropolis underwent a free eye operation while over 400 got free medical eye glasses recently, as Big Church Foundation embarked on a giving back to society drive to mark United Nation World Disability Day.

Founder, Big Church Foundation, Dr. Olakunle Churchill, an Abuja based NGO in an address to press before the event urged Nigerians and the general public to consider the welfare of the physically challenged people among in Nigeria, saying the basic necessities of the helpless should be provided irrespective of the individuals status, be it government official or Non Governmental organisations.

In his remark, Olakunle stressed that “To share into the vision of uplifting the living standards of the physically challenged as well as shouldering the responsibilities of the blind like providing eye care services, Big Church Foundation in commemoration of The United Nation world Disability Day embarked on a 4 day programme that started with a conference which culminated into sensitizing the citizenry and a free open test for any possible optical challenge as well as dictating early defects and treatment.

Dr. Churchill Olakunle and his wife, famous Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike personally supervised the programme that attracted cross sections of Abuja residents including paramilitary officers and civil servants at Millennium Park, the event venue.

Other activities during the programme include a visit to homes of people living with disabilities, walk for love, exhibition held at millennium park, Novelty football match at Soho 24 Sport center to the final Free Eye test & glasses, during which over 400 glasses were donated and over 100 people listed to enjoy free cataract operation courtesy of Big Church Foundation.
