AHEAD of tomorrow’s inauguration of Godwin Obaseki of All Progressives Congress, APC, as governor of Edo State,  Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, has called on People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the September 28 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to emulate the worthy examples of the United States Democratic Party candidate, Mrs. Hillary Clinton and former President Goodluck Jonathan, by conceding victory for Edo State to move forward.

In a statement by Alhaji Dada Akpeji and Ralph Dimowo, the group said: “When we heard of the news of Clinton’s conceding victory to Trump, we told ourselves that the unexpected had happened but Clinton had shown political maturity which former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, among others, have also shown.

There is nothing barring Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from taking a pen to write a formal concession speech to his party and his supporters as this will not only increase his public acceptability and image. Ize-Iyamu’s moral standing, no doubt, will skyrocket to an unimaginable level both politically and otherwise. Besides, this will further boost his leadership status  and statesmanship in the state.

We expect him to exhibit courtesy and most importantly, begin the healing process for what is invariably an extremely personal and contentious campaign because ideally, by the time the governor-elect is inaugurated, most of us would have forgotten how much we hated each other and be willing to work together for the progress of the state.”
