PORT HARCOURT—The kidnappers of Mr. Nnamdi Abbah, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, have demanded N100 million ransom.
Abbah, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State, was kidnapped around Alekahia axis of East-West Road, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, last week, while returning to his home.
A source close to the family, who did not want his name mentioned, disclosed that the kidnappers had reached the family five days after the abduction.
The source stated that the bandits contacted a friend of Abbah’s, who is also a chieftain of APC in Emohua council, to make the demand.
The source is worried that since the first contact was made by the abductors last week, every effort to reach them had proved abortive.
Meanwhile, the disconnect between the family and the bandits is now causing panic as relatives of the victim are afraid that the victim may have died in the hands of his abductors.
The source said that the fear is because of Abbah’s health condition, which they fear may have deteriorated.
He pleaded with the abductors to free Abbah unconditionally.
