Nsukka—Three students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, who allegedly invaded the institution’s Information Communication Technology, ICT, Centre, and carted away properties, have been arrested by a combined team of Nigeria Police Area command, Nsukka, and the security department of the university.
The students, said to have been terrorising the university community and its environs (names withheld) were from Psychology Department, Biology/Chemistry Department and Agricultural Science Department, while the alleged kingpin of the students robbery gang, simply called Humphrey, of the Faculty of Engineering, is still at large.
Some of the items stolen were plasma televisions, refrigerators, split unit air conditioners, film projectors, 14 laptops and hand bags.
It was gathered that the most dreaded among the three gained admission as a pharmacy student but had spent 12 years in the university, as he kept hopping from one department to the other due to poor academic performance.
Some of the items stolen by the suspects had reportely been sold to unsuspecting people two weeks before their arrest.
Contacted, the Area Commander, Nsukka, ACP Monday Kuyarsi, confirmed the arrest of the three students, saying they were the most dreaded students on campus, who belonged to different cult groups.
