Let’s begin this edition of Joyful Homes on a different note. Especially since we ended last week’s note with the assurance that every yoke can be broken with the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
I stumbled on amazing testimonies during the week, that I decided that today’s column should begin with a testimony.
Whatever challenge one is going through, be it a search for a job, a marriage partner, or babies in marriage, we must always bear in mind that God is able.
Baby after five years of waiting
“I was married for five years without a child. The Bishop (Oyedepo) said we should come out last year to receive the book “You Shall not be Barren”, and then we shook hands with Mama (Mrs. Oyedepo). November last year, I missed my period and by August 23, this year, I gave birth to Isaac”. — Mrs. Aku. This testimony is part of the compilation of Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church popularly called Winners Chapel, titled “ Miracle Babies”.
Bishop Oyedepo gave a lead as to how to overcome challenges especially in child bearing.
He wrote: “After you have spoken to God about your problem, face the opposition and address it! Until you address barreness, it will not move”.
These words of the man of God buttresses the point we have always made in this column that for every challenge, the solution is not to submit to the opposition but to face it armed with the Word of God under the right anointing and the yoke will be broken.
We have an assurance of victory over every challenge. Our authority is found in Psalm 9 vs 9 and 10. “ The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee for thou LORD has not forsaken them that seek thee”.
From Bishop Oyedepo’s piece of advice, it is clear that in most cases, we have challenges because there is some opposition to our miracles.
These are either physical or spiritual.
We are often not conscious of the source of the opposition to our miracle but sometimes they are revealed in our dreams. At other times, the enemy is so stubborn and bold that he manifests physically.
I’ll share the story of a lady who is the first of many children in her family. She therefore had the privilege of good education and a good job. When it was time to get married, her proud father organized a lavish wedding ceremony for her.
Unknown to her, the favour she got from her parents became the source of envy for her siblings. Why , how? This is the question you would ask, but let’s refer to the Holy Bible, Genesis 37 vs 5-8 “And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told his brethren: and they hated him yet the more”.
Joseph told the dream in verse 7 “ For behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf rose, and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves stood round about and made obeisance to my sheaf”.
Note the reaction of his siblings in verse 8 “ And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words”.
Back to the story of the lady, unknown to her, two of her siblings were agents of the forces of darkness and they vowed that she will never have a child. The secret was revealed during a deliverance service and because, all power belongs to God, she had a breakthrough.
In most cases of spiritual challenges, the enemy is not too far away.
As a child of God, you are not expected to submit to challenges. Why? This is because we have a name that has never lost any war. He is a winner all the time.
Philippians 2 vs. 10
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth and things under the earth”.
Whatever is the nature of the challenge, at the name of Jesus it must bow.
In all we do, our faith is crucial but how we exercise that faith is even more important.
Let’s reflect on the thoughts of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God titled “ Nothing goes for nothing”.
He said for one to have a miracle, self-denial is so crucial . In his words, “ That includes fasting while others are feastingand praying while others are sleeping… keeping the body under control is self- denial”.
Many will ask why is this necessary, after all Jesus has paid the price for our sins? My answer is that we need to take some of these steps to acquire spiritual immunity. So that the fire of God in you will keep the forces of darkness permanently away from you.
Pastor Adeboye said, “To command supernatural situations, nothing goes for nothing. You have to engage in spiritual exercises”.
Matthew 17 vs 21 is our authority, “ Howbeit this kind goeth out but by prayer and fasting”.
We should also bear in mind that the enemy never rests.Relocating or travelling abroad as a means of escaping a challenge is of no use. Why? It’s because there is no distance in the spiritual world.
Knowledgeable men of God say, the forces of darkness have their own network and connect easily to frustrate the efforts of their victim but our God is able to nullify their efforts.
No surprise that Pastor Adeboye wrote, “When you engage in fasting, you are equipping yourself with strong weapons to counter every attack of the wicked ones and take your victory in every battle of life. When faith is actively coupled with prayer and fasting, there is nothing that can stop your prayers from being answered”.
Make up your mind to be free from the bondage of the enemy and be prepared to deny yourself some comfort. In the end, your joy will be unspeakable.
Twenty-five years of waiting ends
I’ll share this amazing testimony read by Pastor Gbenga Oso of Laughter Foundation International Ministry .
Mrs. X got married in 1991 and has been without a child. Soon she became a drunk, even at beer palours. However, she continued to worship the Lord. After a while, God delivered her from alcoholism when she got saved. Sooner than she expected, her salvation led to the manifestation of her long awaited miracle.
She is now pregnant and the baby is expected within the next few months.
Can you imagine how joyful she is? Someone who had waited 25 years to become a mother is now attending ante-natal clinic, she is now seen in maternity wears and very soon, the cry of baby or babies will be heard in her home in the name of Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, what is it that you have been waiting for? Don’t give up, have faith in God, exercise your faith in accordance with the leading of the Holy Spirit and your miracle will manifest sooner than expected in the mighty name of Jesus.
