By Festus Ahon

ASABA—Delta Political Vanguard, a political support group of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, has empowered over 200 traders and artisans with cash running into millions of naira in Isele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

The beneficiaries who cut across the 10 wards in the local government area, smiled home with a promise to put the cash into judicious use that would earn them a living.

The empowerment, which was initiated and coordinated by former Vice Chairman of the council, Mr. Afam Ayansi, according to the beneficiaries, is the first of its kind in the area.

Speaking during the ceremony, Ayansi said that the gesture was to appreciate members of the group for their steadfastness and diligence which culminated in Okowa’s victory in the 2015 governorship election.

Urging those yet to benefit to be patient, he said: “The empowerment will be a continuous exercise, so if you don’t benefit today, you will benefit in the next batch; just to continue to support the Okowa led government.”

Also speaking at the event, Executive Assistant (Political) to the Governor, Dr Emmanuel Mafiana admonished Deltans not to be worried over the current economic situation of the country, saying; “Senator Okowa will not renege on his campaign promises.”
