Students under the aegis of the National Union of Lagos State Students, NULASS, have called on the Lagos State government to release their bursary awards as failure to do so will lead to peaceful protest by the students.
At its Congress recently in Lagos, NULASS said that despite several appeals to the Lagos State Scholarship Board on the backlogs of awards owed to them which had spanned over two years, the government was yet to meet their demands.
NULASS president, Comrade Daniju Sultan said, “we have resolved having severally communicated our appeal to the government for the prompt payment of our outstanding bursary awards to our members, who are students in tertiary institutions across the country.”
In addition, he said “We have agreed to begin a new campaign for the release of our bursary funds. As within the next three weeks, we shall write and meet with the Special Adviser on education to the government; the chairman of the Lagos state scholarship board ; and the governor for prompt release of the funds.”
