LOKOJA—Kogi State government, yesterday, said it had keyed into the Social Protection Programme, SPP, of the Federal Government to provide youths with employment.

Governor Yahaya Bello spoke in Lokoja, the state capital, at the 2016 step down training for Community Base Targeting, CBT, teams and enumerators.

Bello, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, said the state government would carry out programmes and activities of the SPP through the office of the state Youth Employment and Social Support Operation, YESSO.

He said: “Kogi government is committed to harvesting all the five components of the Social Investment unit of the office of the Vice President. To that effect, Kogi State government has appointed a focal person to harness the programme for the state.

“To ensure that Kogi State optimises the benefits of these programmes, an office complex has been provided to house the programme, while the Cash Transfer office has been set up at the Stella Obasanjo Library complex to ensure that beneficiaries are paid as designed by the Federal Government.”
