Driver in court for allegedly threatening to kill former boss

A Grade 1 Area Court, Karmo, Life Camp, Abuja, on Thursday admitted a 35-year-old driver, Emmanuel Adaba, to N10, 000 bail for alleged criminal intimidation.

The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, who ordered the defendant to produce a surety in like sum, adjourned the case till Sept. 6, for hearing.

The defendant who resides at Galadimawa Village, Abuja was arraigned on a one-count charge of criminal intimidation.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Alhaji Aliyu Usman, of Life Camp, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station on July 22.

The complainant told the police that the defendant, who was his former driver, threatened to kill him, via a text message, after he sacked him due to his bad attitude.

Dalhatu said the defendant was instrumental to the problems he had with his family, which culminated in his wife divorcing him.

The prosecutor said the accused was arrested on Aug. 13 and that the offence contravened Section 397 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
