MAMELODI Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands has highlighted the importance of the clubs 2016 CAF Champions League clash against Enyimba next week. The Brazilians host the Nigeria giants at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville next Wednesday.

Pitso Mosimane’s troops got their group stage campaign off to the perfect start beating Group B rivals ES Sétif 2-0 in Algeria this past weekend.

But, instead of basking in the glory of the memorable win, the Chloorkop based side were keen to shift focus to their next game against Enyimba who suffered a 1-0 defeat to Zamalek at a waterlogged Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

“We are not getting carried away, lets enjoy it, but I think it is time now to start turning our attention to Enyimba who are coming off a loss at home,” said Sandilands on Sundowns arrival from Istanbul, Turkey on Monday.

“We have to make sure we do our job in the game next Wednesday.

Sundowns clash in Sétif was halted on 90 minutes for crowd trouble with the referee eventually bringing an end to the game after a 10-minute stoppage in play.

Sandilands revealed that although the scenes towards the end of the game were unsavoury, he enjoyed playing in front of what was a hostile crowd at the Stade 8 Mai 1945.

“It is always nice, it is a different type of crowd than you get back home,” the 32-year-old continued. “It is that really aggressive crowd that really gets behind their team so it is always beautiful as a player to experience such things.

“Obviously the scenes weren’t beautiful, but they are passionate fans so it was a nice environment to play in…it is just not nice how it ended.”

Sandilands started in goal in place of the suspended Denis Onyango. The Uganda international was named the 2015/16 Premier Soccer League goalkeeper of the season.
