Despite efforts by media handlers of the governor to put a lid to it, there are indications that the sack of the state commissioner for commerce and industry, Mr. Abdul Oroh was another fallout from the succession battle in the APC.
Mr. Oroh a former journalist and human rights activist was by several accounts retained in the cabinet mostly through the patronage of the governor with whom he had journeyed with through his time in civil society.
However, Mr. Oroh had also known Dr. Pius Odubu when both men were in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007.
Apparently after compelling all his aides to tow the line by supporting Godwin Obaseki, the rebellious instinct in Oroh which saw him serve years in Sani Abacha’s gulag surfaced as he refused. Indeed, Oroh did not stop his support for Odubu and the more the pressure came, the more passionate he gave his support for Odubu. It was thus not inevitable that he got the sack from the cabinet last Monday.
Celebrating his new position, Mr. Oroh in a posting on his Facebook page yesterday where he donned a Pius Odubu fez cap, said: Now I dey mind my business jeje. The gist is that he is penciled down as Odubu’s running mate.
