THE three officials of Osun State government, who were kidnapped in Kogi State, yesterday, regained their freedom from their abductors.
A Permanent Secretary in the Osun Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunlumade was abducted alongside the director, State Audit, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko and the driver conveying them from Abuja, Mr. Oladapo Ajani Arogundade where they had gone for official assignment.
Earlier yesterday, it was learned that a delegation, comprising security operatives from Osun State, had been dispatched to Kogi State to join in the search for the officials abducted last Friday along Obajana/Lokoja road.
The Osun state government, it was also gathered, had to send a delegation to visit the families and relations of the victims to reassure them that it was making efforts at ensuring their quick release.
Confirming the development, Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said the officials had been freed and were in good state of health.
Also, a statement issued by the Head of Service, Mr. Sunday Owoeye confirmed the release of the officials, adding that arrangements are being made to return them to the state at the shortest possible time.
The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public that to the glory of God, the three staffers of the State of Osun Civil Service, Mrs. Bimpe Ogunlumade, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko, Director of State Audit and the Driver to the Auditor-General (State), Mr. Oladapo Ajani Arogundade, have regained their freedom from their abductors this evening of Sunday, 24th April, 2016.”
