Two men — Clement Akintunde and Kunle Abioye – who allegedly stole 250 planks valued at N250,000, on Friday appeared before an Ipetumodu Magistrate’s Court in Osun.
The accused — Akintunde, 54 and Abioye, 51 – whose addresses are unknown, are facing charges of theft and conspiracy.
Accordingh to the prosecutor, Sgt. Monday Ogezmode, the accused committed the offences on Feb. 2 at 4.00 p.m. at Moleyi Village in Edunabon area of Osun.
Ogezmode said the duo conspired and stole 250 planks valued at N250, 000, property of Mr Ramoni Sanni.
He noted that the offences contravened Sections 383 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
The counsel to the accused, Mr Ayodele Olawoyin, pleaded for his bail on liberal terms and assured the court that the accused would not jump bail.
In his ruling, Magistrate Faith Idowu granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 each and with one surety each in like sum.
Idowu said the surety, who should swear to affidavit of means, should also reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned to March 30 for hearing.
