Manchester City and Cote ‘d Ivoire midfielder, Yaya Toure is in contention for a third consecutive win of the CAF Africa player of the year, after he made the top three short-list alongside Ghana’s Andre Dede Ayew and Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Toure was last week named the BBC player of the year and from all reckoning he fits the bill for the CAF awards.
For the African Player of the Year – Based in Africa, the top three finalists are; Baghdad Boundjah (Algeria/: Etoile du Sahel), Mbwana Aly Samata (Tanzania/ TP Mazembe) and Robert Kidiaba (DR Congo/ TP Mazembe) .
Ngozi Ebere made the woman of the year list where Cameroon duo Gabrielle Onguene and Gaelle Enganamouit are contenders. N’rehy Tia Ines, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana’s Portia Boakye, make up the women list.
The winner to be decided by votes from Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala on January 7, 2016.
