LAGOS State Police Command, Thursday, said it had arrested over 100 suspected criminals for various offences ranging from murder, kidnapping and child theft to robbery within the metropolis, in the last two months.
A total of 706 weapons were recovered within the period under review.
This came as father of the four children, who were killed by mudslide last Sunday at Orisha community, Magodo, Lagos, said he was not a policeman as widely reported by some newspapers (not Vanguard).
Also, the Inspector General, Mr. Solomon Arase, condoled with the bereaved family.
The IGP sent a condolence letter and an undisclosed amount to the family.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, during a briefing at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja, said plans were on by the state government to inject about 100 patrol vehicles, 20 BMW bikes and helicopter to the command to help patrol the metropolis throughout the Yuletide period.
Crime statistic in the months under review, according to Owoseni, showed a down slide, adding that 40 robbery suspects were arrested in the month of September, while 30 were arrested in October, with 64 and 642 ammunition recovered, respectively.
