The Federal Government has said it will take tough measures against corrupt Permanent Secretaries.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, while addressing the new and old Permanent Secretaries at a one-day retreat, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, said the government will not cover up for any wrongdoing by public officers.
Oyo-Ita warned, “Mr President’s body language in this regard is clear to everyone. Anyone found wanting should not expect any protection.”
“You must be aware of the latest development thinking . You must be in tune with the mood of the public, including the growing demand for transparency and accountability from public office holders.”
The Head of Service cautioned the public officers against carrying on with business as usual while advising them to key into the change mantra of President Buhari for the collective goal of taking country to right pedestal
“The dwindling resources available to the government which is occasioned by the down turn in the prices of petroleum products had made it imperative for diversification of our economy that is one of the cardinal programmes of this administration. It calls for attitudinal change on all of us as public servants.”
