31st October, 2015 was a day of remarkable achievement in Adoka, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State as The Adoka library and educational resource centre was commissioned and declared open. The library is an initiative of Education for Change, an NGO.
Speaking at the event, the founder of Education for Change, Mr Nelson Owoicho said he was inspired to open the library for the use of students in the area to have access to recommended textbooks and other materials.
“Having grown up in this community, I know the difficulty students have in getting access to recommended textbooks and other relevant reading materials,” he said.
Mr. Owoicho reaffirmed the commitment of his organization to provide access to quality education for children around rural areas in the state saying “I believe in the transformative power of education and believe that access to quality education should be a thing of choice and not circumstance.
The National President of Adoka Development Association (ADA) Bro. Simon Ijamu thanked the organisation for the initiative.
The member representing Adoka/Ugboju constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Barr. Adam Okloho described the initiative as a “noble gesture and a unique set up for the community”.
