Senate clears Fayemi after rigorius screening

Former governor of Ekiti State,Dr Kayode Fayemi,has been cleared by the Senate for appointment as minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayemi clearance came after he undergone rigorius screening on the floor of the Red Chamber.

The former Ekiti State governor, who was the second ministerial nominee to be screened was cleared by the Senate after responding to questions thrown at him by some senators.

Answering questions on how he intends to tackle education sector if appoint minister of education, Fayemi said he was in support of review of education curriculum and tackle issues that could lead to production of quality teachers to enhance education standard.

Also, responding to questions concerning issues of foreign policies,the ministerial nominee, advocated the transfer of prisons from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the justice ministry.

**As Senate begins Ministerial Screening

ABUJA- Senate President Bukola Saraki has unveiled the list of Ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reading the 16- man ministerial list, Senate President Bukola said that President Buhari submitted the list in line with section 147(2).

The 16-man list comprised Khadijah Bukar Abba-Ibrahim; Omoleye Daramola (Ondo State) Professor Anthony Anwuka, (Imo State), Jeffery Onyema, Brig. Gen. Mansur M. Dan Ali (Rtd), Zamfara State and Barrister James E. Ocholi, Kogi State.
Others are Zainab S. Ahmed, Okechukwu Onelemah, Muhammadu Bello, Mustapha Baba Sheshuri, Miss Aisha Abubakar, Heneikin Lokpobri, Adamu Adamu, Professor Isaac Adewole (Osun State), Pastor Sanni Useni Ughuru and Abubakar Bwari Bawa.

Soon after the unveiling of the list, Senate Minority Whip, Senator Philip Aduda, PDP, FCT complained the omission of the FCT from the Ministerial list against the backdrop that the Federal Capital Territory, FCT which is like a state, just as he pleaded that the FCT be considered for a ministerial position.

Also commenting on the list, Deputy Senate Ike Ekweremadu said he was worried over the non inclusion of states to the names of the nominees which explains why the confusion.

Responding, Senate President Saraki promised that the Senate would look at them.

Senate clears Sen.Udoma for minister

THE Senate has confirmed the nomination of Senator Udoma Udo Udoma for appointment as minister in the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Udoma, who was the first to be called out for screening, was not subjected to rigorous screening given that he was a two-time senator.

After answering a question throwned to him by the Senate President,Bukola Saraki, he was asked to bow and go in line with the Senate tradition of treating its members that appears before it for screening
