Chief Afro Biukeme
WARRI—The Delta State governorship candidate of Mega People Progressive Party, MPPP, in 2011 governorship election, Chief Afro Biukeme, has faulted those claiming that the trial of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki is a witch- hunt.
Speaking in Warri, he argued that it was left for Saraki to clear himself of the allegations levelled against him, even as he advised President Muhammadu Buhari, to face the business of governance, focusing on electricity and other infrastructural development instead of concentrating on probe of past governments.
According to him, “the way the judicial system operates today will delay recovery of money looted from our treasury. I will prefer a situation where the president starts providing dividends of democracy to the people instead of embarking on probe mission which might end up wasting a lot of his time.”
Biukeme, who commended President Buhari, over his effort in ensuring Ogoni spill clean-up, noted that he was optimistic that the President would do more in developing Niger Delta region due to its strategic economic importance to the country.
He, however, urged President Buhari to grow the economy “as everything is stagnant now and no money everywhere.” Biukeme, also announced his intention to defect to move to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
