Awka—THE ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State yesterday, warned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Labour Party, LP, in the state to desist from what it described as the unwarranted attacks on the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

The state publicity secretary of APGA, Mr. Chinedu Nkwonta said in Awka that further attacks on the governor was an invitation to anarchy, insisting that the party might be forced to react in its own way.

Addressing newsmen at its state secretariat, Tuesday, the APGA publicity secretary in the state, Mr. Chinedu Nkwonta said the two parties had recently constituted themselves into nuisance by attacking the governor without any cause.

Nkwonta said that both PDP and LP, having realized they are jobless people, have resorted to undue attacks on the state chief executive.

The two political parties recently asked Obiano to account for about N80 billion local government funds collected since he mounted the saddle and also accused him of dropping from the standard set by the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi in terms of infrastructure development.

Describing the allegations as frivolous and concocted, Nkwonta said: “He that lives in a glass house should not be throwing stones. That APGA is a law-abiding party does not give anyone the impetus to ride our leader and BoT chairman. Any negative attack on Obiano is an attack on APGA. It is an attack on the general integrity of the people of the state who are predominantly APGA members.

“Let me remind the dreamers once more that PDP and LP do not exist in Anambra. What they have are bullies and intimidators that had in the past taken advantage of their control of the centre to defraud us during elections.

“APGA is fully awake now and be rest assured that such can never happen again. Labour  party has also gone extinct.

“The essence of opposition is to have a party that is consistently  observant of the policies of government and to detect any type of  policy, project or action that will be inimical to the progress of the state.”
