Troubled Bayelsa United beat Heartland 3-1 in a rescheduled Nigeria premier league match on Monday after the original fixture was moved due to heavy rain.

However, despite the home win Bayelsa remain rooted at the basement of the league table with 29 points from 31 matches.

Heartland are 10th  on the table with 44 points.

Man of the match Samad Kadiri gave hosts Bayelsa the lead after 10 minutes with a volley from inside the box.

But Heartland drew level through Mohammed Mohammed from close range in the 35th  minute.

Six minutes later, Uche Okeke fired Bayelsa ahead again.

Bernard Ovoke made the game safe for Bayelsa in the 76th  minute when he raced on to a pass by Kadiri before he shot past goalkeeper David Obiazo at the near post.
