No fewer than 31 suspected armed robbers terrorising residents of Oto-Awori Local Development Area of Lagos State were arrested by anti-robbery policemen attached to Ijanikin Police Station in the past three months.
Vanguard gathered that the suspects, picked up at various hideouts around Ijinaki, Iyana-Era and Kola areas of Oto-Awori, were said to be burglars robbing shops and highways robbers attacking motorist plying the Mile 2- Badagry Expressway.
It was also gathered that among those arrested was a notorious suspect identified as Danguda, who is said to have killed many of his victims and also raped some women.
Sources disclosed that some of the suspects were transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, while others were charged to court.
Narrating how some of the robbers were arrested, a source who craved anonymity, said: “On Monday, May 25, some armed robbers were on a house-to-house raid at Ijanikin area, when a distress call was sent to Divisional Police Officer, Robinson Eregare.
A team of anti-robbery policemen was mobilised, stormed the scene and arrested some suspects.
