The Defence Headquarters yesterday said that troops fighting Boko Haram insurgents have destroyed ”seven additional terrorists’ camps … as more terrorists also died in the ongoing onslaught to flush them out of Sambisa forest.” A statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, DDI, Major General Chris Olukolade, also said that ”additional 25 women and children were rescued in the process.”
Court to hear suit in termination of appointment of 110 ABU staff on May 21
The National Industrial Court, Abuja, has fixed May 21 for further hearing in a suit against Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, over the termination of the appointment of 110 staff. Justice Peter Lifu (JP) gave the ruling on Wednesday. The suit was instituted against ABU, the Federal Ministry of Education and the Attorney-General of the Federation in December 2012 over the termination of the claimants’ employment between 1996 to 1999.
Bayero assumes duty as new MD of NPA
Malam Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero on Wednesday assumed duty in Lagos as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority(NPA). He took over from the former managing director, Malam Habib Abdullahi at a brief handover ceremony at the NPA headquarters office in Marina. Bayero was appointed as the new Managing Director of the Authority on April 29. In a brief address, the new managing director said he hoped to work at his best with the staff for the benefit of the nation.

The Special Task Force (STF) keeping the peace in Plateau said it had recovered two bodies, out of the three missing soldiers at Kurmi, a border village between Taraba and Plateau. STF spokesman, Capt. Iweha ikedichi, said this on Wednesday in an interview with newsmen in Wase. On April 28, a militia group alleged killed six soldiers at Kurmi village, and three others went missing.
