Group blames Lagos Dep Speaker’s defeat on sabotage

By Bashir Adefaka
Following the defeat of the Deputy Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Kolawole Taiwo in the last April 11 polls, a Badagry-based group, HTK group has expressed displeasure over the failure of the lawmaker to return to the House describing it as “undeserved defeat.”

Honourable Kolawole Taiwo is currently a member of the State House of Assembly representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun Constituency.

Addressing newsmen in Badagry recently, the leader of the group, Mr. Rauf Alagbada, said the plight of the lawmaker was caused by the anti-party activities of some members of the party urging the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the issue in order to forestall any future re-occurrence.

“We want to communicate our displeasure on the intra-party discord that led to the defeat of our party in Ajeromi/Ifelodun State constituency to the opposition, People’s Democratic Party, PDP at the last April 11 election. The APC should get some to root of all complaints so as to unravel the elements that worked against the interest of the party. This will help to check various acts of anti-party activities within the system and forestall any future reoccurrence.

Reacting to the development, a party leader in the area, Alhaji Muhideenn Are, in a telephone chat with Saturday Vanguard claimed that aspirants who contested against the deputy speaker at the primaries worked against the party. “We have never lost election here in Ajeromi/Ifelodun, the defeat was caused by some saboteurs but we have accepted the outcome, as an act of God,” he said.
