‘Buhari’s emergence is a strong rebuke to impunity’

FORMER minority leader of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP in the House of Representatives, Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula has welcomed the emergence of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as president-elect saying it is a strong rebuttal to the system of impunity and corruption that had stunted the country’s growth.

Arigbe-Osula, in a statement made available to Vanguard warned that those who ignored the development were doing so at their own risk.

He said: “Congratulations to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the APC, and indeed all Nigerians irrespective of political affiliations. At The Leadership award conference held at Sheraton in Abuja three years ago, I predicted that a day like this shall only come when Gen. Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu put their differences aside and come together in the interest of our great country.

“So, I also congratulate both leaders for putting the future of our country once again above self. This victory which is well deserved is yours and I thank enduring Nigerians for coming out to speak loudly for even the deaf to hear that, power in no small measure actually belongs to Nigerians from whom political office holder, elected or appointed derive his or her authority through the constitution of our land.

“This singular act of yours, and the attendant victory has sent the message that, the absurd culture of arrogance, impunity, incompetence, and reckless corruption that had characterized the ruling political class, military and civilian in our country has come to an end. It can only be ignored at your own risk no matter how big or strong you think you are, you cannot stop a change whose time has come. This is the beginning of our revolution in our country.”
