Man stones brother to death in Imo

By Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI — Palpable confusion and anger have enveloped Umuokoroma, Umungwa, in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, following the reported tragic stoning to death of 42-year-old Kingsley Nwabueze by his younger brother, identified as Ihechukwu.

It was not clear at press time what led to the ugly incident but Vanguard gathered that Kingsley went to one of the local eateries to help himself with one of the local delicacies when Ihechukwu traced him to the place.

A villager, who spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, recalled that Ihechukwu allegedly attacked his elder brother with all manner of dangerous weapons, including bottles and knife.

“Kingsley could not fight back as a result of his injured right hand. He quietly left the place for the family home, without finishing his food and drink,” the villager said.

Vanguard also gathered that Kingsley, who had already lost a lot of blood, no longer had the strength to run away from his attacker, who was now stoning him with bricks.

“Sensing that his victim was dead, Ihechukwu dragged the lifeless body of his elder brother to his room and ran away thereafter,” the villager recounted.

Efforts to get either Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area or the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, a deputy superintendent of police, for comments, failed as their mobile telephone lines could not be reached.

However, Vanguard gathered that “the parents of the victim are telling the police at Otoko all they know about the incident.”
