UMUAHIA — ABIA State government has warned the former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, to stop making unguarded statements capable of setting the state ablaze.

The former governor had in an interview with journalists alleged that Governor Theodore Orji used the military to intimidate him not to vote in 2011, and warned that if such was tried in the coming elections “our people will burn down the state” and that would be the end of Governor Orji’s administration.

Reacting to the statement, the government condemned it and asked the former governor to apologise to the state government and its people within the next 72 hours or face legal actions.

Addressing journalists yesterday, the state Commissi- oner for Information, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, accused the former governor of trying to cause trouble in the state by inciting the people through spread of falsehood and warned him to retrace his steps or face the law.
