Presidential Poll: Crisis in Benin Forum over Edebiri’s comments on Jonathan

CRISIS is rocking Benin Forum, the socio-political umbrella of the Benin nation over the statement credited to the Esogban of Benin, Chief David Edebiri, that the Binis would not vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28, presidential election as concerned members of the Forum have given him (Edebiri) a 12-hour ultimatum to resign as chairman of the forum.

I WAS shocked to read the editorial of February 16, entitled “Nigeria’s Miserable Choices.” First, it was the Independent National Electoral Commission, not President Goodluck Jonathan, who decided to postpone the election, a power it exclusively has under our constitution. INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, said publicly “nobody has coerced us… to take this decision.”
