ABUJA—The #BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, has said it was the duty of every citizen to hold his government accountable.
The group’s position was in response to the statement of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Communication, Dr. Doyin Okupe, condemning its six-week countdown of possible rescue of 216 remaining Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.
BBOG in statement in Abuja and signed by Head of Media, Mr, Rotimi Olawale, decried the statement made by Dr. Okupe, explaining that the countdown was tied directly to the six-week timeline issued by the National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, to curtail and deal aggressively with Boko Haram terrorist in Northern Nigeria.
It would be recalled that Dr. Okupe said President Goodluck Jonathan in his recent media chat didn’t promise the girls would be freed within six weeks, noting that the countdown by BBOG was unnecessary.
