…pick APGA tickets for Assembly polls

Yenagoa—Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bayelsa State who lost out in the state and National Assembly primaries have shunned the reconciliatory committee set up by the party in the state and have rather picked the tickets of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, for the 2015 elections.

The state PDP, led by its chairman, Col. Sam Inokoba (rtd), had on Monday set up a panel to reconcile the aggrieved members, many of whom had threatened to pitch camp with the opposition parties to actualise their aspirations after the party primaries, which, according to them, were skewed in favour of the state governor’s candidates.

The panel saddled with the responsibility of reconciling the aggrieved party members is chaired by the traditional ruler of Opume Kingdom, King A. Turner.

Other members of the panel are the former acting governor of the state, Chief Peremobowei Ebebi, Chief Thompson Okorotie and former Speaker of the old Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Talford Ongolo.

The aggrieved PDP members, including a former President of the Ijaw Youth Congress, IYC, Jonjon Oyinfie and a former commissioner in the state, Zuwa Konugah, shunned the party and picked tickets to represent their various constituencies at the next general election in the state on the platform of APGA.

Kodugah was a former Commissioner for State Capital Development under the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson.

The aggrieved former PDP members were adopted after passing through APGA requirements at the latter’s primaries held yesterday in Yenagoa.
