WSA 2014: MSS becomes best African mobile solution

After competing with no fewer than 400 other solutions from Africa in the 2014 World Summit Award , Mobile Software Solutions limited, a Nigerian solution with a focus on e-health was celebrated with an award for the Best African Mobile Solutions in mobile content, Health, Entertainment/Lifestyle category.

The World Summit Award (WSA) is the global follow-up initiative of the United Nations World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).

It partners with the key UN organizations and agencies in the framework of the UN Geneva Agenda and the Tunis Action Plan. WSA selects and promotes the world’s best e-Content and innovative ICT applications.

The prestigious award for m-Entertainment/Lifestyle category was presented to Chris Uwaje, Chairman of MSS Limited at the just concluded second Inter-Ministerial Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), held in Rabat Morocco.

It would be recalled that the Malaria Destroyer Game (MDG) from Mobile Software Solutions, the leading African Mobile Games Company and Platform was in March this year selected as the Best Mobile App Game of the year by “All amber” the brand platform for Mobile West Africa Conference 2014.

Accordingly, the award winning solution for WSA Africa 2014, Malaria Destroyer Game (MDG), was selected by WSA mobile jury for its innovative origination, human-health impact and international appeal with endorsements by National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), UN (UNESCO e-Learning Chair) Open Media and Centre for Values and Leadership (CVL) amongst others.

This feat by MSS, undoubtedly has shown that software Nigeria can compete favorably with foreign solutions if given the opportunity.

By extension, this superlative recognition has now uplifted MDG into a world class m-Entertainment solutions as currently classified under the e-Health category of the UN-enabled World Summit Award. The Malaria Destroyer Game (MDG) by Mobile Software Solutions Limited represents perhaps the most strategic and innovative way to positively fight, destroy and eradicate this pandemic.

“With this solution, we can stop these massive Malaria deaths and sustain economic growth by ensuring the good health of our workforce” Uwaje told international Journalists shortly after receiving the award.

According to the Oracle of the Nigerian IT industry who was also recently celebrated by Nigeria ICT Media Initiative as the Indigenous software/IT Policy advocate, software Nigeria has the capacity to make a difference in the global market.

Meanwhile, the MDG winning Team is made up of: Pius Junior Ekeh, Eyika Godson Iheanyichukwu, Yinka Taniwomo, Raphael Kazeem, and Kester Uwaje.
To eradicate and defeat the Malaria Pandemic, it is imperative, according to him to change Africa’s health attitude through a constructive and strategic entertainment and lifestyle mobile solutions.
