PDP warns govs, others against endorsement

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA—AHEAD of its National Assembly and governorship primary elections fixed for November 22 and 29, respectively, the national leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Thursday, warned all governors elected on its platform, zonal national executive members, state party chairmen and all elected party officers against endorsing any aspirant.

The party, in a terse statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the governors and other elected officers had no power to endorse an aspirant prior to primaries.

According to the party, only the National Executive Committee, NEC, can endorse candidates in the same fashion as President Goodluck Jonathan was endorsed for the 2015 presidential election at its 66th NEC meeting.
