Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria has urged the Federal Government not to accept the condition by Boko Haram sects to swap the over 200 abducted female students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State with the captured Boko Haram militants.
They gave the charged at a media briefing held at their Headquarters, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos, saying, “swapping the abducted girls for the captured militants would further empower the Boko Haram sects.”
The head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Nigeria, Dr. Mashhud Fashola, said that swapping abducted person for militants is totally against the tenet of Islam.
According to him: “We shouldn’t accept it. Islam doesn’t accept negotiating with criminals. Boko Haram has nothing to do with the true teaching of Islam. To have kidnapped someone who didn’t fight you and demand for negotiation. It is out of the question.”
Fashola noted that rather than negotiating with the Boko Haram sect, the Federal Government should further allocate more funds to provide the necessary logistics to the security apparatus in the country to rescue the abducted girls and capture the members of the sect.
He added: “this was why we have applauded the central government for accepting the support of foreign countries that have the technical logistics to locate the whereabouts of the girls.”
Fashola however, said that as foreign countries arrive to provide the required logistics to aid the immediate rescue of the abducted girls, the central government should monitor their activities.
He explained: “When developed countries go to anywhere, they are looking for the gains they will get. They are coming into the country not to lose. They aren’t coming into the country to spend citizens’ tax where they will not receive any gain. That is what is called rationale behaviour in economics.
