AKURE— TWO lovers, Wasiu Saidi and Kafayat Ademola, who specialised in stealing vehicles have been arrested in Ore area of Ondo State.

Wasiu 35 and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Kafayat, are being detained at the Police headquarters in Akure.

The lovers were arrested by detectives from the Ondo State Police Command after allegedly stealing a Toyota Picnic bus.

Police source said in Akure that the lovers who had confessed to be specialists in stealing of vehicles were arrested at about 9pm on April 3 this year.

It was gathered that one Yemi Tope of 7, Ondo Road, Ore, reported at the Police Station that his vehicle was stolen where it was parked.

Consequently, operatives of the state CID, led by ASP Jacob Alao swung into action and traced the suspect to Ibadan.

Vanguard gathered that the detectives stormed Ibadan after a tip-off.

The lover boy was consequently apprehended with the vehicle in Ibadan, Oyo State while cruising about in it.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that his girlfriend stole the key to the vehicle  key under the pretext that she wanted to buy recharge card from the complainant.

Police source added that the suspect after stealing the car key gained access to the vehicle where it was parked and drove away.

Contacted, the state police image maker, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the arrest of the lovers, saying the duo have confessed to have used the same method to steal other vehicles.

He said detectives were doing everything possible to recover other vehicles stolen by them.
