Lokoja — Hajia Ladi Ibrahim, a Kogi delegate at the ongoing national conference and former Auditor-General in Kogi, has called for true federalism for Nigeria to attain equity, fairness and justice.
Ibrahim, who made the remark in telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, suggested rotation of power among the geo-political zones in the country.

She said that power should also be rotated among the various senatorial districts at the state level so that everybody would be given the opportunity to taste executive power.
She said: “Even though, the presidential system of government is expensive, we can have a modified presidential system that can take care of the cost.”

Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, said “each of the federating units must enjoy unity to live peacefully and to have politically-stable federating units”.
The delegate, who is also a former President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, said with this, the nation would become united and stronger.

She said the divisive tendencies among the different ethnic groups would no longer be there.
She said: “It is when there is no fairness, equity and justice that there will be wrangling among the different ethnic groups.

“This is what President Goodluck Jonathan wants the conference delegates to address to ensure fairness, unity, justice among the different ethnic groups and allow room for self-determination.
“Devolution of power should be all-encompassing and would motivate everybody to be peaceful and stable as much as possible.

“Devolution of power will create room equity, fairness and harmonious co-existence among the diverse groups living within each of the federating units.
