PORT HARCOURT — RIVERS State Police Command has gunned down three armed robbers in the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, who spoke yesterday on the operations of the Command within the last three weeks, said the robbers were shot dead during an exchange of fire with policemen, adding that one AK-47, two magazines, 22 rounds of 7.66mm ammunition were among items recovered from the robbers.

He said: “One AK-47, two magazine, 22 rounds of 7.66 mm ammunition, one locally-made pistol with four rounds of 9mm ammunition, one black golf car with plate number AA 941 UGU, were recovered.”

He said his men also smashed a kidnap syndicate in the state and rescued a kidnapped Mrs Ibiso Orinari Atiegoba, who was abducted by four men on Ada George Road, Port Harcourt.
