Bauchi — The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has repatriated 77 foreigners residing in the state without valid documents.
Speaking to newsmen while parading the affected persons, preparatory for repatriation, the state Comptroller of NIS, Ejukwule Usman, said the foreigners were apprehended in various locations in Bauchi metropolis.
According to him, “the affected persons who are from Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic were arrested while conducting illegitimate businesses in the state.
“In view of the security situation in the country, particularly the North-East region, it has become imperative for the NIS to take measures that will ensure the protection of lives and property of Nigerians.”
He further said the exercise was meant to rid the state of criminal elements to pave the way for the smooth conduct of the 2015 general elections.
