ADO EKITI—Former  member of  the National Assembly, Senator  Ayo Arise, has accused Ekiti State police command of bias, saying the command is under the control of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, government.

Arise also alleged that the police clamped down on members of opposition in the state.
The former  lawmaker who was representing Ekiti North Senatorial District in the Senate  accused the police of  bias in the way they  handled incidents that marred the conduct of the just concluded Voters Continuous Registration exercise organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission preparatory to the June 21 Governorship election.

Given details of what had transpired between him and the police, Arise said  two of his aides were detained and charged to court  by the police over what he described as spurious allegation from a state government  official  that they  attacked the INEC office in Oye Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State last Sunday during the exercise.

In his reaction, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Victor Babayemi, defended the police of any accusation of bias, stressing that the arrest and prosecution of the ex-Senator’s aides were part of their professional callings.
The police image maker, advised politicians to refrain from reading political meanings to whatever action taken by the  Police.
