WARRI—The Ugborodo Peace Committee headed by Mr. Macauley Ovuzorie, Secretary to Delta State Government, has been urged to reconcile all Ugborodo elders and ensure that a valid constitution was put in place, if lasting peace is to be achieved in the community.
Pa Sandys Omadeli-Uvwoh, former Chairman, Ugborodo Management Committee, in Warri, Delta State, who gave the charge, yesterday, also called on Ugborodo sons and daughters to see the reconciliation as a golden opportunity to sink their differences and put all hands on deck to build the Ugborodo of their dream.
Omadeli-Uvwoh commended the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, for speaking the truth and tongue lashing the Ugborodo elders at a stakeholders meeting in Abuja, for being partisan in the conflict.
He said: “I am grateful to the Chief of Navy Staff, for his wisdom. He spoke the truth because we elders are the real problem of Ugborodo. If we had united and not been greedy and selfish, there would have been no conflict.
“On behalf of the shameful elders of Ugborodo, I thank the state and Federal Governments for giving us this project. I want the committee to start its work by first reconciling all the elders, because we are the trouble, we see Ugborodo as our retirement benefit. If the elders are united, then the young ones and the women will be united. There will be no faction because the youths are the foot soldiers of the elders.
“I use this medium to call on all Ugborodo sons and daughters to grab this reconciliation opportunity to bring enduring peace, so that we can develop Ugborodo of our dream.”
