ADO EKITI — Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed readiness  to work with all the  members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that are moving to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state including the former governor Segun Oni.

Fayemi, who was apparently commenting on the successful consummation of talk between the nPDP and APC, said he was ready to work with all progressives who are ready to wrest power from the PDP.

He pointed out  that  he had always seen Oni as a progressive politician, going by his antecedents  as a founding member of the Advanced Congress of Democrats and Action Congress of Nigeria during the battle to wrest power from the former Governor Ayodele Fayose.

He was speaking at Erinmope Ekiti, in Moba Local Government Area, during the continuation of his tour of all the towns and villages in the state.

Oni had been having a frosty relationship with  Alhaji Bamanga Tukur-led  PDP  following his removal as the National Vice Chairman, Southwest, and he had slammed  the party with series of suits  over his removal.

On whether he would be ready to embrace Oni and other aggrieved members of the PDP, Fayemi said he was ready to work with all right thinking and progressive politicians to bail out Nigerians  from the  PDP government at the federal level.

“If you know the political antecedents of  former Governor Segun Oni, you will know that he has always been a member of this party. He has always been a progressive,” he said.

We worked together at thelaunch of ACD which worked together with Alliance for Democracy  for the formation of Action Congress.

ASo , I see  no reason why  his coming on board  will not be welcomed by right thinking progressive Ekiti people. We are unique, Ekiti is one . We belong to one group, so anyone who is a lover of progress, a lover of development, a lover of peace , is clearly welcome@.

While not dismissing the possibility of working with his predecessor in office ,Fayemi said Oni had a good political background as a progressive

“I am not aware he has reached that conclusion yet, but he is somebody that I talked to time to time. He is a leader in Ekiti regardless of politics. As a leader I discuss generally Ekiti matter and development with him.@ he said.

Commenting on the differential in political ideology between the merging groups, Fayemi described this as immaterial at this point in time, saying what is paramount now is how to save the country from being run aground .
