Osaze Odemwingie’s late goal was unable to stop CardiffCity losing 2-1 at home to Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Nigeria international scored in the 58th minute to pull a goal back for City after Loic Remy had struck twice in the first half to give the visitors a two-goal lead.
The goal was Odemwingie’s first in the English Premier League for his new club, after he opened his account against West Ham in the Capital One Cup.
Malkay Mackay was critical of his team’s first half performance, stating that they gave too much room to their opponents.
“If you give a good team time and space like we did in the first half, then you can be punished and we were,” Mackay said.
