All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the October 12 by-election in Delta Central senatorial district, Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has condemned the action of the gunmen, who, weekend, held Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial candidate, Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, and other party chieftains hostage in Kokori.
Emerhor, who spoke to journalists in Ewu, Ughelli South Local Government Area, sympathised with Aguariavwodo, saying that his party does not support violence.
He said: “While in this campaign train, it has come to our notice that our fellow contestant and candidate of PDP, Chief Aguariavwodo went on a campaign trip to Ethiope East, somewhere near Kokori and there was some violence. We do not have the details of that violence. We heard that his entourage was attacked. We want to make it clear that we of APC do not support violence.
“We strongly condemn what we heard happened there. We want a level playing ground for all candidates. We do not ask, request, or tolerate any person, including our supporters, engaging in acts of violence, as we also ask for a fair playing ground for all those concerned. We condemn this act, even though we do not have the full details, in very strong terms.
“We sympathise with our fellow brother and contestant under the PDP for whatever losses he might have suffered and we will call him to condole and sympathise with him.”
However, the three monarchs of Arhavware, Okparabe and Ewu equally offered their prayers and blessings for the senatorial bid of Olorogun Emerhor at the palace of his Royal Majesty Okporufouma I, Ovie Ewu Kingdom.
Olorogun Emerhor also visited the family of late Senator Pius Ewherido.
