THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, has at last moved to put an end to the operation oil thieves and pipeline vandals at Ishawo in the Ikorodu area of Lagos. This followed the sealing of two trans-loading stations in the area which has for long been notorious for activities associated with these criminals. The trans loading station was situated in a compounded where the illegal operation was shielded from prying eyes. But luck ran out on them when the Corps operatives received a tip-off of the operation of suspected vandals in the area.
The State Commandant, Adesuyi Clement, had promptly mobilised his team which the compound whose owners fled the scene before the arrival of the operatives. The compound was immediately sealed off with 111 kegs of 50 litres of petroleum products impounded by the officials.
Parading the products at the Command, Adesuyi said this will serve as a deterrent to others as the Command will no longer tolerate any act of vandalism no matter how connected the suspects may be.
Also, he urged the community leaders and well- meaning Nigerians to help the Corps in the fight against vandalism and oil theft by giving useful information at their disposal.
